Back to nude-y pink lip glosses… Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Honeysuckle
Because I cannot seem to walk out of a department store without a little something, I stopped at the Bobbi Brown counter on my way through Macy’s while in the city for a meeting.
Bobbi Brown has long been a favorite of mine. Because I’m challenged beyond lipstick and gloss on how to apply makeup, Bobbi is truly a Godsend. Her makeup is easy to apply, needs minimal blending and truly works on a variety of skin tones.
The first thing that caught my eye was the Black Pearl Eye Palette. There are 6 shades of pretty awesome grey and black tones. 3 are shimmering and sparkling at me and the other three appear to be matte. I wanted it and I still want it and I will probably at some point get it… But then, something else caught my eye.
The search for a perfect pink continued. A shimmering nude-y pink was begging me to try it. So I did. I swiped a bit on the back of my pinky finger. I learned from working at Shiseido – a brand that strives to educate each of it’s employees on caring for the skin and makeup application – that the pinky finger has skin that is closest to that of your lip so when you’re trying color on your hand, for lips, the best place is the soft, fleshy part of your pinky finger.
Honeysuckle is a really perfect nude pink. It has some delicate shimmer and looks very brown in the tube but it’s more of that pink-beige color of your actual lip. It’s super natural looking, very glossy and sticky enough to last longer than a minute.
The applicator is a brush – which I find to be okay. After a while, my brushes always get completely wrecked from dipping in and out of the tube and I prefer a sponge, but it’s easy to apply with the brush. There is a subtle vanilla scent that had I not known was there, I would not have smelled. And there are some nourishing oils in the gloss to help your lips feel soft and not flaky.
One tube is $23 and while it’s pricey, it’s completely worth it. My Bobbi Lip Glosses last forever and the color is natural enough that it won’t go out of style anytime soon. I also love the versatility… I can play up the eye area at night (or have someone play up my eye area for night), wear this during the day, there aren’t any limits.
And in case you wanted to see what I’m drooling over buying next:

Isn’t it purty???
