CND Shellac: The 14 Day Manicure

I’ve been wanting to try those 2-week manicure’s for a long time. But to be honest my cuticles have been ragged. My nails, not so much but my cuticles, bitten. I used it as incentive in order to stop biting the skin around the nail bed and it worked. So today, I got myself 14 day manicure. I chose to go with CND Shellac because they have no pthalates or formaldehyde.

The manicure itself was uneventful. It was fairly standard. The difference was that there was a special base coat, special color and top coat. Each coat was followed by 5 minutes (maybe less) under a UV Lamp.

I chose a nude color called Beau. I’m used to getting Pinking of You by OPI or Sugar Daddy by Essie. This color is not sheer, it’s definitely opaque but I love it. It’s very much a skin tone. So far, there are some things I can get used to. For example, I loved getting to leave the nail salon right away. I always leave too early and wind up messing my nails up. I am on a computer at work and usually chip the polish almost immediately from typing. My nails are shiny and nude colored as if I just came from the salon a minute ago.

The service was expensive – $35 but at a salon by closer to my home it’s $25. I will go there next time (I didn’t have the time this week so I went to a salon by work). If the shellac lasts for 14 days and doesn’t weaken my nails – which it claims not to, it will be more than worth it though. I plan to do a few updates on how my nails are holding up over the next few weeks so… To be continued…
