Drugstore Faves from the Prestige Princess
I know I give the impression that I’m a Prestige Princess but there are drugstore brands that I do buy. When it comes to specific items, I make it a point to spend more because you get what you pay for. So concealer, foundation, blush – items that need to be spot on in terms of color, I spend more on. Skincare… I spend more on because once you get those sun spots and wrinkles, there’s little you can do to reverse the damage.
But there are things I do love that don’t cost you an arm and a leg.
Body:
Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel
I know this woman who I worked with at Clarins and I swear her skin was the softest I had ever touched. Even since then, I have not felt skin softer… not even my son’s! And she swore by many things Clarins but she also swore by this. And I have to admit, putting a little on after your shower but before drying off, is pretty awesome. A little goes a long way and your skin soaks it in and becomes like a baby’s bottom.
Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub
Smooth skin is important to me. For the obvious reasons but mostly because I do get something called Ketosis Pilaris that causes bumps on my arms. I have gotten it under control with diet (yep, DIET! Turns out Milk causes me to break out!) but this stuff makes sure that the pores on my body stay clear. It’s gentle and it works so I never pay more for a body scrub.
Alba Very Emollient Shave Cream in Mango Vanilla
I have used a bunch of different Shave products but this stuff is my favorite. It doesn’t foam which may take getting used to and is very moisturizing. The skin on my calf is always dry so anything that adds moisture is what I’ll be attracted to. This stuff is more like a balm in consistency and the scent is so heavenly! It’s like a tropical vacation in your bathroom!
Face:
Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub
I read a lot of magazines and in one of them, a famous dermatologist said she swore by this stuff. I kind of flippantly thought, whatever… I’ll try it. I didn’t expect to love it but I do. It’s super gentle so you can use it every day (ahem, like some scrub addicts) and it doesn’t make your skin red or irritated like other more abrasive scrubs. And it doesn’t break the bank either!
Hair:
L’Oreal EverPure Moisture Deep Restorative Treatment
Normally, I have attitude about L’Oreal. I don’t know what I have against them (J.Lo, cough cough) BUT when my local CVS didn’t have my Organix, I tried this. It’s Sulfate and Paraben free and a friend of mine likes this line so… I broke down. And I really like this hair mask! I like Organix better but I would certainly buy this again too! The scent is a bit minty I think… I can’t put my finger on it… it’s not my favorite scent for hair but it’s not overpowering and is very subtle.
So there you have it. A few drugstore faves from the self proclaimed Prestige Princess… Do you have drugstore favorites? Tell me in the comments!
