When someone says Marchesa to me, I immediately think long and flowing and beautiful gowns on Oscar Night. I think of Glamour and 2 of my personal style icons: Kate Hudson and Blake Lively. So when I heard some months back that they were coming out with a fragrance, I was excited. THEN I saw the bottle and my heart went all aflutter. Yes bottles do that to me.
In one of my Sephora purchases, I wound up getting a tiny bottle (top of page) to try. Even the small bottle, without the bling, looks exciting! The scent in the bottle smells light but somehow potent. I don’t smell any one thing but I like what I smell.
There are a number of flower essences in this scent: Freesia, young violet leaves, night blooming jasmine on a base of ambrox and musks. I usually love anything with violet in it and this is no exception. I do love this fragrance (almost as much as I love the bottle) but I do have a gripe. The dry down is quick and it does not last all day.
My precious Thierry Mugler Angel lasts all day and then some so I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. Marchesa is $85 and lasted all of 3-4 hours.
If you love Freesia and Violet with some strength behind it, you’ll love this fragrance. And if you love glamour on top of that, you’ll be jumping for joy. Just know that reapplying mid-day will be a must if you like your scent to stay on through the work day.
Marchesa Parfume D’Extase is available at Sephora.
