Hello Gogo: Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara

Josie Maran GoGo Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara

Mascara is always difficult for me to find. I really like Cattiva’s Divino Lash and really, that’s the only mascara that seems to give my blonde, thin, straight lashes (Why isn’t the hair on my head blonde and straight? GAH!) any sort of volume without a ton of clumps.

And I’ve tried a ton of Mascara’s in my life time. For a while, I was using Bad Gal Lash by Benefit. I’ve tried a number of Lancome mascara’s and have not liked one though they have a cult following. And I’ve tried Dior but as much as I’ve loved that enormous brush, the formula just absorbed into my lashes and made them hard. Hard eyelashes. Ugh. No thanks.

I’ve been having an affair with Josie Maran (the cosmetics line not the person, though she is absolutely stunning) for a bit now and mostly her gloss and skin care. When she re-launched her GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara, I picked it up and was excited to try something that was natural and maybe wouldn’t harden my lashes.

The wand is along the bigger variety. It’s not as huge as say Bad Gal lash by Benefit but it is a chunky brush. I have found bigger brushes to be better for my thin and stubby lashes so I was happy with the brush. The bristles are natural and not that plastic type that I cringe at. And the color is “Pitch Black”. On my lashes it looks beyond Pitch Black – which is good!

The descriptor says that the brush is this “patented triple V brush” delivery system. If you look at the brush you can see the triangular shape of it which flows with the shape of your eyes. I adore the brush. It’s big without being enormous – a problem I’ve had for my little almond eyes.

The formula infuses – you guessed it – Argan Oil for smooth, shiny and soft eyelashes. And my lashes do stay soft even with up to 3 coats. I do have to brush through my lashes between coats with an eyelash brush but for me, it’s because my lashes don’t always take to the curl (how did I wind up with STRAIGHT eyelashes and CURLY hair?) so some lashes curl then there is a rogue, straight lash causing mayhem.

What I really love about this is that I don’t notice smudging. Even though I should, I never do… keep my hands away from my eyes. I’m always rubbing or fixing a rogue lash and no matter how many times I put my finger near my lids, I don’t get a smudge or smear.

After 1 coat, I can see my lashes and there’s a natural lash line there. After 2, I have healthy, thicker lashes and if I really want to pump it up, I’ll add a third coat to the outer corner of the lashes.

The mascara costs $22 and can be purchased at Sephora.

And if you’re balking at the price, think of this: GoGO stands for Get One, Give One. $1 from each Mascara sale is going toward City of Hope’s Cancer Research, Treatment and Education of Women’s Cancers… Suddenly, $22 for a mascara feels so much better, right?

From JosieMaran.com:
Josie Maran has teamed up with City of Hope, a leading cancer research, treatment, and education institution, to launch the Get One Give One Campaign. For each GOGO mascara purchased, Josie Maran Cosmetics will donate one mascara to a City of Hope cancer patient/survivor (up to 5,000 units). Thereafter, through Aug. 2012, $1.00 from the sale of each GOGO mascara will be donated to City of Hope’s research, treatment, and education of women’s cancers. Minimum donation of $25,000. With your purchase, you are helping women look better, feel better, and build self-esteem. Now isn’t that beautiful?
