Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow in Dark Suede

Confession. I am severely eye shadow impaired. I wish I were not but the fact is that I long for a smokey eye and when I try to accomplish the sexy, smolder in the eye area… I always wind up – natural looking.

So I’ve just started to accept it. I mean, realistically, I don’t need to look like Kim Kardashian every day of my life (on the flip side, how NICE would THAT be?). So for the special occasion where I may want to get my smokey eye on, I prefer to get my makeup done somewhere.

In this month’s BeautyFix, I chose to receive Jane Iredale’s PurePressed Eye Shadow in Dark Suede. For some reason, I completely thought it had shimmer in it and it is 100% matte. No idea why I added shimmer to it in my head but I did and opening it was kind of disappointing. It’s really a dark but somewhat neutral brown shadow.

What’s different? Well they say it’s long lasting. We’ll see, I’m sure my combo skin will put that to the test. I will say that a few hours in, it is still looking like I just swiped it on. Then there’s the fact that Jane Iredale is one of the first mineral makeup brands. So if you are into the mineral trend, this would be a good shadow to add to your collection. It’s a quality shadow in a neutral enough color that you can do a sheer swipe or build it for dramatic effect. As it is daytime, I did the sheer swipe today.

You can also use it wet as a liner… and ya know, that’s so another trick I want to learn! The Lauren Conrad or Adele cat eye. That whole winged liner thing looks so cool yet when I do it… not so cool.

In any case, the lack of shimmer didn’t bother me so much once I put the color on. It’s really a beautifully rich brown that is pretty amazing. It goes on really smooth and easy and is a great multitask-er.

The only thing that would hold me back from purchasing is the cost. It’s $19 for a single shadow which is on the expensive side.
